In addition to information about its composition, characteristics, and technical advantages, the selling price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is also a critical consideration for customers. The following content will provide some relevant information about CNG prices.
CNG in Vietnam is currently domestically, primarily extracted from gas fields located in the Southeastern region (such as the Nam Con Son Basin, Cuu Long Basin, and Malay - Tho Chu Basin). Therefore, factors that influence the selling price of CNG include costs related to exploration, drilling, extraction, processing, as well as transportation and distribution of natural gas.

Natural gas is used as fuel for power generation, raw material for ammonia production, fuel for industrial processes and for transportation (transported through pipelines to nearby consumers as CNG and via tanker trucks for distant consumers as CNG). The majority of natural gas, about 70%, is supplied to power generation. The selling price of natural gas must ensure both efficient gas exploitation and energy security. Currently, the selling and distribution prices of natural gas to consumers are determined and periodically updated by PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) and its subsidiary, PetroVietnam Low Pressure Gas Distribution Joint Stock Company (PV GAS D).
CNG suppliers will purchase natural gas from PV GAS D, compress it to 200-250 barg by compressors then transport it to customer stations. For each customer, the selling price will vary based on key factors such as CNG consumption volume and the transportation distance from compressors to the customer. However, in general, the current CNG prices are lower than those of FO, DO, and LPG when converted to the same unit of Calorific value. The pricing formula for CNG in industrial production is calculated proportionally with FO or LPG prices, while for transportation, it is proportionally calculated with DO prices.
The unit price for CNG is usually stated in VND or USD per 01 mmBTU (Million British thermal units). The volume of CNG exchanged between buyers and sellers is measured in Sm3.
Gas South has been a CNG supplier since 2009, with an extensive distribution system and a professional team, ensuring stable supply, quality, and the most competitive pricing. Please contact us for CNG consultation and the earliest quotation.
