Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a clean fuel that brings many environmental benefits and economic efficiency. In Vietnam, CNG is used as a replacement fuel in the industrial and transportation sectors. Let's explore where to buy CNG and the regulations for CNG purchase in the Vietnamese market with Gas South.

2. The regulations on CNG business activities
According to Decree No. 87/2018/ND-CP on the gas business, regulations on gas business activities, and conditions for gas business in the Vietnam market, enterprises engaged in buying and selling CNG must be established in accordance with the legal provisions. They should possess CNG tankers, CNG compression stations, and CNG refueling stations that meet all safety, fire prevention, and firefighting requirements as stipulated by the law.
-
For business with CNG refueling stations: They are only allowed to sell CNG to customers with CNG purchase contracts that comply with safety and fire prevention regulations for CNG usage. Additionally, they must sell CNG at the prescribed price, provide the contracted CNG quantity to customers, and take responsibility for the quantity, quality, and price of CNG sold to customers.
-
For CNG refueling stations for transportation vehicles: These stations must be owned by enterprises established in accordance with legal provisions, granted the authority for investment, construction, and meeting all fire prevention and firefighting conditions as specified by the law.

Regarding the selling price of CNG, enterprises are required to list and sell CNG at the listed price. They are responsible for the quantity, quality, and price of CNG sold to customers. According to No. 177/2013/NĐ-CP - Detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of the law on price, CNG is classified as a commodity/service subject to price stabilization. Therefore, enterprises must list the selling price of compressed natural gas in accordance with market mechanisms. It means they have the right to determine the price and compete in pricing as regulated by the law.
To meet the increasing demand for CNG usage in Vietnam, CNG providers, including Gas South, are continuously improving the quality and expanding the distribution system of compressed natural gas nationwide. Currently, Gas South is supplying CNG to over 40 industrial customer stations and 03 CNG refueling stations for vehicles. The clean CNG-fueled bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City can refuel at the 03 CNG refueling stations operated by Gas South.
