The Block B – O Mon Gas Pipeline is a key project of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) with a total investment of approximately USD 1 billion, in which the Group’s subsidiary PV Gas holds a 51% stake. The remaining 49% is contributed by foreign partners: Chevron (USA), MOECO (Japan), and PTTEP (Thailand).
This is one of the largest-scale gas pipeline systems in Vietnam, with a total length of nearly 400 km, including approximately 246 km offshore and about 152 km onshore, running through Can Tho City and the provinces of Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau.
Once completed, the project will transport natural gas extracted from Blocks B & 48/95 and 52/97 in the southwestern offshore area of Vietnam, with a capacity of 18.3 million cubic meters per day (equivalent to 6.4 billion cubic meters per year), to supply power plants at the O Mon and Tra Noc Power Centers in Can Tho (with a total capacity of 3,000 MW). It will also partially supply the Ca Mau Gas – Power – Fertilizer Industrial Complex and other consumers in the Southwest region.
