The Northern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company (located in Đình Vũ Industrial Zone, Hải Phòng) has officially inaugurated Phase 1 of the largest LPG terminal in Northern Vietnam. This project is part of the Master Plan for the National Petroleum and LPG Port and Terminal System approved by PetroVietnam (Vietnam Oil and Gas Group) for the 2006–2010 period.
The project is divided into two phases. Phase 1, which began construction in January 2008, has now been completed and put into operation. The terminal has recently received 2,200 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the Dung Quất Refinery.
In this first phase, the company has completed a storage system consisting of two tanks with a total capacity of 3,000 tons. The overall facility includes five tanks with a designed storage capacity of 7,500 tons, high-pressure pipelines, LPG import–export pipelines, and an automatic fire prevention and protection system equipped with advanced technology from G7 countries.
The project is expected to be fully completed in the fourth quarter of 2010. Once finished, it will become the second-largest LPG terminal in Vietnam, following the Thị Vải Port Terminal.
