Huong Do Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province, is a locality rich in revolutionary traditions. During the resistance war against the US, Huong Do was a safe stationing place for many main army units such as Regiment 320 and Youth Volunteer units ensuring Route 15. The commune is considered the “flood center” whenever the rainy season arrives. It has a total of 1,384 households (including 286 poor and 178 near-poor households). In the recent flooding, 1,322 households were inundated, of which 700 were submerged about 2–3 meters, with estimated damages of about VND 20 billion.
With the spirit of “Mutual Love and Compassion” to share difficulties and promptly support local people to overcome hardship and soon stabilize their lives, on October 26, the relief team of Southern Gas Trading JSC, led by comrade Dang Van Vinh – Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Company, visited and encouraged families affected by the floods in Huong Do Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province. In the morning, the relief team surveyed and delivered gifts directly to 8 families in extremely difficult circumstances in hamlets 7 and 9, among the most heavily damaged areas. These included 6 families with revolutionary contributions, 1 family with a chronically ill husband, and 1 family with a small child who lost his father. Each gift was worth VND 2 million. In the afternoon at the Commune People’s Committee office, the Company’s relief team continued to present gifts to 142 flood-affected households in hardship, each valued at VND 1 million.
Holding the gift in her hands, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thin from Hamlet 7 smiled and said she would use the relief money to buy breeding chickens, as her flock had been swept away by the floods, so she could soon stabilize her life. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sen from Hamlet 6 shared that her family lives in a low-lying area and usually has to escape floods, but this year the water rose so quickly that her chickens and pigs were all swept away. “Thank you to the Company for lending a hand to help us in this difficult time,” said Mrs. Vo Thi Tu.
