In order to support students who could not return to their hometowns for Tet, create a healthy, joyful, and meaningful playground for those spending the holiday away from home; and at the same time demonstrate the care of businesses and society toward underprivileged students unable to return home for the Lunar New Year of the Monkey 2016, on January 29, 2016, Southern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Student Assistance Center to successfully organize the program “Spring Festival for Students Away from Home.”
Participating in the program, students felt the warm and sharing atmosphere among friends in the same situation, easing somewhat their homesickness and longing for family. Most of the students came from distant provinces and, for many reasons, could not return home for Tet. The majority stayed to work part-time jobs to cover study and living expenses.
In addition to Tet gifts and lucky money envelopes worth VND 500,000 each, the students also enjoyed an outstanding art performance program; participated in exchanges to share their feelings; and especially had the opportunity to listen to successful seniors sharing experiences and reflections on achievements and failures during the talk show “Future Careers – Opportunities and Challenges.”
The program was part of Gas South’s community activities in 2016. (Before 2016, it was known as PV Gas South)
