On the morning of March 16, 2017, PetroVietnam Southern Gas JSC held a ceremony to launch the 5S movement across the Company, witnessed by Mr. Do Tan – Chairman of the Board, along with the Board of Directors, heads of Departments/Units, and all employees of the Company’s Operational Division.
5S is a productivity improvement program that is very popular in Japan and gradually applied in many other countries. The concept of 5S comes from the first letters of the Japanese words “Seiri - Seiton - Seiso - Seiketsu - Shitsuke”, and can be roughly translated into Vietnamese as “Sort - Set in order - Shine - Standardize - Sustain”. Applying 5S in the Company aims to mobilize human resources, improve the working environment, and enhance corporate productivity.
At the ceremony, Mr. Dang Van Vinh – Deputy Director of the Company emphasized the importance of the 5S action program. He requested and trusted that all employees of PetroVietnam Southern Gas would seriously implement the 5S movement to make the workplace organized, scientific, and convenient, contributing to improving work efficiency. The Operational Division, Binh Khi Branch, and Dong Nai Branch will be the three pioneering units in implementing this program.
Attending the ceremony alongside the Company’s leaders and employees was Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, 5S program consultant and representative of the Vietnam Productivity Institute. After the launch, Ms. Van commented that: “This is one of the most large-scale and solemn ceremonies, with close attention from the Board of Directors and Management. It demonstrates the high determination of the leadership and staff. I believe PetroVietnam Southern Gas will successfully implement the 5S program effectively within the enterprise.”
To demonstrate commitment to implementing 5S, the Board of Directors and Department/Unit Heads signed a joint commitment statement. Mr. Tran Van Huynh Long, representing the Youth Union, also stated that with the energy, intelligence, and enthusiasm of the youth, the Union will seriously apply 5S in daily work, promoting this movement throughout the Company so that every employee can take pride in their workplace, enhance initiative, avoid unnecessary waste, and contribute to elevating the Company’s image to a new level.
