Kicking off the company’s 2017 community engagement movement and promoting the tradition of “the good leaves protect the worn-out ones,” the Trade Union Executive Committee, together with the Youth Union of Southern Gas Trading JSC, launched the “Spring of Love Journey 2017”. The program aimed to bring gifts to disadvantaged children, homeless people, lonely elderly, policy-beneficiary families, and households facing hardship in localities where the company operates, with the meaningful message: “A reunion spring, a Tet full of love.”
Within just over a week of fundraising, both in cash and in-kind, the program received enthusiastic support from the company’s leadership, employees, and Youth Union members.
On January 7, 2017, the first leg of the “Spring of Love Journey 2017” took place successfully in My Tho Town, Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province.
The program delivered 100 gift packages (including cash and essential items) to policy-beneficiary families and those in difficult circumstances, along with 20 scholarships for underprivileged students with good academic achievements in An Binh, My Tho, My Xuong, Nhi My communes and My Tho Town. The goal was to help local people enjoy a warmer, more fulfilling Lunar New Year celebration.
The “Spring of Love Journey 2017” will continue with its second and third stages in Binh Dinh Province and Ho Chi Minh City in the weeks leading up to Tet.
The first stage left behind unforgettable impressions: the drowsy eyes after early-morning departures, the sweat from carrying supplies and handing out gifts. Yet, everyone shared the understanding that: “A year begins in spring, a lifetime begins in youth—and youth is the spring of the nation. Giving and receiving is a natural law of life. Life becomes more meaningful and fulfilling when we know how to love and share.” This is also the humanitarian message that the leadership of Southern Gas Trading JSC wishes to send to all employees.
Here are some highlights from the first stage of the “Spring of Love Journey 2017”:
