Specifically, November crude futures rose 52 cents to 73.79 USD/barrel in electronic trading on the New York exchange. Earlier, on the night of October 12, crude oil had already climbed 1.50 USD to 73.27 USD/barrel due to forecasts of strong U.S. demand for oil during the winter.
Also on the New York exchange, heating oil prices increased 1.82 cents to 1.9126 USD/gallon, while November gasoline futures gained 1.42 cents to 1.8132 USD/gallon. In London, Brent crude rose 58 cents to 71.94 USD/barrel.
Thus, crude oil has been fluctuating between 65 USD and 75 USD over the past months, driven by volatile information regarding economic recovery and consumer demand.
