On the New York market, December 2009 crude oil futures rose by $1.02, or 1.3%, pushing the price up to $78.45 per barrel during electronic trading, and settling at $78.37 per barrel as of 12:50 p.m. local time.
On the London market, December 2009 Brent crude also gained over $1, or 1.3%, reaching $76.87 per barrel and standing at $76.81 per barrel as of 12:50 p.m. Singapore time.
