As part of the 2017 activity plan, the Southern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company organized a “Back to the Roots” program for its staff in Mong Cai – Quang Ninh from October 12 to October 15, 2017.
After a journey of nearly 1,800 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation of Southern Gas arrived in Mong Cai – a borderland at the northernmost point of the country. During this meaningful trip, the delegation participated in many activities, especially a visit to the soldiers at Po Hen Border Guard Station. The group offered incense at the Po Hen Heroic Martyrs Memorial Site – a prominent revolutionary historical relic in Mong Cai City. In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the Southern Gas delegation listened to the Border Guard soldiers recount heroic achievements and the brave sacrifices of 86 martyrs during the border wars. Each name engraved on the memorial stele represented a touching story, leaving a deep impression on the delegation and evoking pride, reverence, and gratitude toward the soldiers who gave their lives to protect the nation's borders.
Bidding farewell to the soldiers at Po Hen, the delegation continued its journey to visit children at Hai Son Secondary School. Hai Son is one of two mountainous communes of Mong Cai City, mainly serving students from the Dao and San Chi ethnic groups. Due to its remote location, both teaching and living conditions for teachers and students face numerous difficulties and shortages. The delegation visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to the teachers and students at Hai Son School. Speaking at the gathering, the school's management board expressed their heartfelt thanks on behalf of the teachers and students for the care shown by the Southern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company.
In Mong Cai, the delegation also visited Sa Sy Cape, the northernmost point of the country, where the very first lines were drawn on the map of Vietnam.
The “Back to the Roots” journey in Mong Cai was an opportunity for employees to visit historical landmarks and reflect on the nation’s heroic revolutionary traditions. Building upon the outcomes of these field trips, the staff of the Company are more determined than ever to fulfill their assigned tasks and contribute in small ways to the development of the country, honoring the great sacrifices made by fallen heroes for the independence and freedom of the nation.
