These include: The scientific research project titled: “Exploration, discovery and efficient exploitation of oil bodies in Pre-Tertiary granitoid basement rocks in the Cuu Long Basin, Vietnam continental shelf” was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology.
Achieved a record in revenue (VND 772.7 trillion, up 14.4% compared to 2011) and contributed VND 186.3 trillion to the State budget, up 15.8% compared to 2011, exceeding the year’s plan by VND 51.48 trillion. Made two new oil and gas discoveries, brought seven fields/facilities into production. Produced the 290 millionth ton of crude oil on May 31, 2012; extracted the 80 billionth cubic meter of gas on October 15, 2012; and generated the 50 billionth kWh of electricity on October 14, 2012.
Achieved more than 1 million tons of oil output from overseas operations. Completed investment and began commercial operation of the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant on April 24, 2012, with investment costs USD 200 million lower than the approved total investment, meeting 70% of domestic urea demand. Officially completed the overall Ca Mau Gas – Power – Fertilizer Complex. Independently designed, fabricated, installed and successfully operated Vietnam’s first self-elevating drilling rig (Tam Dao 03) – a key national mechanical engineering project. Completed construction and installation of the Hai Thach – Moc Tinh gas field platform system. The Vietnam Petroleum Institute was awarded the title Hero of Labor by the State. The Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (a subsidiary of the Group) was honored with the title “Best Asian Offshore Drilling Contractor of 2012” by World Finance magazine.
